Lehigh Man Dies In Christmas Eve Workplace Accident, Coroner Says

A Lehigh Valley man is dead following a workplace accident on Christmas Eve, officials say.

Michael David Lugo, a 39-year-old resident of Salisbury Township, was at the NFI Industries warehouse at 9645 West Hills Court in Weisenberg, when he became trapped between a loading dock wall and a trailer at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, said Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio in a statement. 

Emergency personnel on-scene declared Lugo dead at about 11:30 a.m., he added. 

According to the autopsy completed Tuesday, Dec. 27, Lugo died from a combination of blunt force trauma and traumatic asphyxia. His death has been officially ruled an accident, Buglio said. 

The matter remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
